How will climate change affect us?

There are many factors that will be affected by climate. Some of the human causes are

-The burning of fossil fuels

- Deforestation

- Agriculture and livestock farming, which emit greenhouse gases that trap heat in the atmosphere and alter the planet's thermal balance.

Climate change has diverse impacts in Mexico, both on ecosystems and human activities. Some of these impacts are:

- The national average temperature increase, which has been 0.85°C over the last 50 years, will increase. We could perhaps reach 2°C in the north of the country by 2039. This affects biodiversity, health, agriculture and energy.

- The alteration of the hydrological cycle, which will cause more prolonged and intense droughts, especially in the north of the country, and more frequent and severe flooding, especially in coastal areas. This affects and will further affect water supply, food security, infrastructure and the economy.

- The intensity and frequency of extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, storms, frosts and heat waves, will increase. This will affect the population, goods and services, generating human and material losses.

- Sea level rise, which could be up to one meter by the end of the century. This affects coastal areas, where a large part of the population and tourism is concentrated, causing erosion, salinization, marine intrusion and displacement of communities.

Addressing the problem of climate change in Mexico requires coordinated action between the different levels of government, the private sector, civil society and the international community. "We won't anything to fix this" is something that should not be in our vocabulary
